Court Supervision - Winter 2024
Feedback from our members and referees regarding the presence of extra court supervisors on Wednesday and Friday nights across our junior games for the final 4 rounds and finals series of the Summer Season, has been very POSITIVE!
Games have run more to time, scorers have had assistance, referees have had support when needed and overall members have felt a more positive, safer environment.
For Basketball Moe to continue to provide ongoing court supervision we need to include all of our junior teams in sharing the court supervision roster throughout the season, so we are not relying on a handful of volunteers.

Court Supervisor Duties:
WEDNESDAY 5:00pm shifts:
Report to Duty Officer (D.O.) in the Refs Room located between courts 1&2 at 4:50pm to collect High Vis Vest and notepad.
FRIDAY 4:40pm shifts:
Report to Duty Officer(D.O.) in the Refs Room located between courts 1&2 at 4:30pm to collect High Vis Vest and notepad.
SUBSEQUENT shifts: present yourself to the current court supervisor on your
allocated courts, 5min prior to shift swap. Exchange High Vis Vest, notepad, and any relevant info you may need to know.
- Ensure games are started on time. If games are running early, please input on timeclock minutes remaining until next tip off. (E.g if the 6:30pm game finishes at 7:11pm input 4-minute count down onto time clock for next game’s warm up that tips off at 7:15pm)
- Ensure both teams are supplying competent scorers (14+yo)
- Help Scorers/Referees if required with ensuring the tablets have team lists entered ready for the game to commence.
- Uniform infringements need to be recorded in the notebook and given to the D.O. at your earliest convenience so that penalty points can be allocated to the electronic scoring and the scoreboard immediately during the game.
- Assist the referees in Ensuring the courts are kept clear of people during all timeouts and the halftime break.
- Ensure the court baselines directly behind the key area are kept clear of any people.
- A Blood Bucket is located in the Refs Room and needs to be supplied to the Coach/Team Manager of relevant player that is bleeding. The court supervisor is NOT to clean up blood.
- Ice is located in Refs Room freezer for any injured players.
- Support Referees if any issues arise with coaches, players, spectators etc.
- Any Green Whistle Policy Breaches that need reporting can be down by following this link: http://forms.gle/Ar6c53LbNx26Keax7 and report it immediately to the D.O.
- Highlight Mercy Rule to referees if not being adhered to correctly:
- U8s and U10s Age Groups: 10 points or more ahead
- U10s and U12s Age Groups: 20 points or more ahead
- Boys and Girls C, B and A Grades: 20 points or more ahead
- Any Referee no shows need to be reported immediately to the D.O.
- Any iPad issues that you or the referees cannot resolve in order for the game to start/continue, need to be reported immediately to the D.O.
