We are excited to be welcoming all 14 Gippsland Associations to our annual junior basketball tournament on our new December date!  

This year we have a record number of 166 teams competing! We are sure it will be a fantastic weekend of basketball, and we look forward to seeing you all battling it out on the courts!  

As with many local associations, a home tournament is a significant event on the calendar, and one that is no small task to organise and facilitate without the hard work and dedication of our members!  

We appreciate all those behind the scenes who volunteer their time to provide opportunities for the kids to compete in a fun and competitive tournament. Matt and I would like to extend a special shout out to the following:  

• The BMI Executive Board – thank you for all your hard work and help over the past 3 months, and for what will no doubt be some very long days in the stadium this weekend. 
  
  
• Sharon Freeman (Tournament Referee Coordinator) thank you for your tireless efforts in recruiting enough referees, completing the referee roster for the tournament and your ongoing support throughout the event. Not to mention your amazing photography skills. Head to “Nothing but Sports Photography” on Facebook to check out the action over the weekend.
    
• Mark van Dyk, thank you for your assistance with the mammoth task of finalising the tournament fixture, and your assistance with playHQ. Your efforts are sincerely appreciated and you are an invaluable member of our association.
    
• Julie Shields, thank you for ensuring our referees will be well fed and looked after. You are always willing to help wherever required, and it is much appreciated.
    
• Max, Wade & the Latrobe Leisure team, thank you for your assistance in the venue preparations across the 3 venues and working closely with our Board to ensure we could deliver a fantastic event to the participants.  
  
  
• To our meteors parents and families, a massive thank you for helping as court supervisors, bbq assistants, caterers, taxis, #1 fans and everything in between. Your kids appreciate it and so do we!
   
• We would like to thank all the referees that have made themselves available to officiate at our tournament at all 3 venues. Without you, there would be no games for the kids to participate in.  

Last but not least, we would like to wish all the participants the very best over the weekend. Play hard, have fun, make plenty of happy memories and remember to thank your coaches and parents for all they do for you too!
